One of the most interesting and enjoyable aspects of my work over the last ten years has been typing manuscripts, memoirs, novels, life experiences, autobiographies, short stories and poems. No matter how old or rough the original copy, whether it is handwritten or already in a printed format, I can reproduce the content into a fresh, clean document, ready for you to edit and ultimately share publicly or with friends and family.

This service is especially useful for reproducing old typed manuscripts that are already in printed or book form or are on loose or bound sheets, or if you have a handwritten manuscript, or even a combination of both printed/typed and handwritten. Of course, brand new written works are also welcome.

Prices are fixed on a per 1,000 words basis and timescales depend on the size of the project. I offer free quotations and would be delighted to hear from anyone with such a project in mind.

I can work from handwritten, typed or printed materials, roughly typed drafts or printed books. The document can be styled to your instructions or set out in a standard manuscript format. You will be amazed at the visual transformation and easy access to the content once it has been newly-typed into a Word document.

Costs for copy typing from a manuscript range between £8 and £13 per 1,000 words, enabling you to estimate likely costs from the start. A deposit will be required in advance, with the balance due on completion and before the document is released.

I am happy to apply a light touch to punctuation etc., but the price does not include any editorial input, other than correction of spelling, online verification of people/place names, etc. where possible. I can also insert placeholders for photos or images.

The size of your manuscript will naturally dictate the timescales, which are agreed before commencement of the project.

Your new manuscript document will be created in Microsoft Word format (.docx). Upon completion, the document can be e-mailed as an attachment or copied to a memory stick and posted to you (incurs additional charge if not supplied). A full printed version can also be supplied (incurs additional charge per printed page).

storing and returning your manuscript

Whilst in my possession, your precious materials will be stored in a smoke- and pet-free environment, and kept securely in a lockable filing cabinet. Upon project completion and receipt of final payment, your original materials will be carefully packaged and returned to you via Royal Mail signed-for delivery (charged at cost).
